SSG Bellavia,
I am a civilian; After reading your book I became a civilian that was proud beyond words of the men and women that have fought for my freedom; The closest I have ever come to a war stricken country or battle front was through the pages of House to House; Although I could never fully understand what you and your men went through I am thankful that you wrote about your experience; It helps people like me –that most likely will never have to sacrifice like you have had to –learn to appreciate the life that American blood has built; Your book has left me completely speechless; I'm in awe of what you and your man did in Fallujah; I know that 'thank you' is too meager of an offering for that gratitude that I feel; I could never utter enough of them, but still thank you;

David,
Your story has inspired me more into joining the Army; It gave me the real look into the reality that war entails; My plans are to join up through college and be an Infantry officer, like Iwan; My deepest grattitude goes out to you and all your men;

Hey, David,
I am so pleased to know that you are making a run for Congress; I hope you succeed--God knows we could use guys like you in politics, especially in this election! I just wanted to let you know that A Ballad for Baghdad is going to be published in a few weeks; It has truly been a labor of love, and I am honored to have a chance to get the truth out about what is going on in Iraq;

Blessings from 'bama,
ali
